What Is the Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship?
As a law firm, we know the importance of safe driving practices because, almost every day, we handle car accident cases. And as students head off to college, we want them to be safe getting to and being there. And safety starts with safe driving practices.
We created the Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship to spread awareness of the importance of knowing the risks of distracted driving. We also want to help students pay for their college education. When students apply for our scholarship, they have the chance to win $2,500 to use toward their college studies, whether it be for books, courses, or other necessary materials.
To qualify for this scholarship, students must meet a few requirements. The requirements are:
- Proof of a 3.0 or higher grade point average (GPA)
- Enrolled or admitted to an accredited university or graduate school
- Submit a video that is 90-seconds or less about the risks of distracted driving
- Apply with the scholarship application
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions of the Morris Bart, LLC scholarship

Maranda Teutsch is the winner of the Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship for 2022. Her passion for film shined in her submission, and her stance against distracted driving was empowering.

About Maranda
Maranda has been passionate about filmmaking her whole life, and her participation started at a young age. Her mom always had a fun activity planned and was a big help in creating some of her first videos. With her mom’s unwavering support, film became her passion and eventual dream job.
Now she’s about to start her graduate program for cinema and television at Columbia College Chicago. When she found out she was the scholarship winner, she said it was encouraging to have won a video contest in her field of study.
As the winner of the scholarship, Maranda is excited to use the money to help pay off her student loans. When she starts college again, she’ll be a full-time student, which will make it hard for her to work and save money. So this scholarship will be very helpful to her, she says.
In her video submission, Maranda takes the viewer through the decades, introducing driving distractions until the present day. Her creativity throughout her video caught our team’s attention.
As an undergraduate student, Maranda was a part of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, an inclusive fraternity that encourages learning and volunteering. In the questionnaire, she expressed that she is hopeful that she will find similar opportunities in her graduate program that she can participate in.
After graduating with her degree, her goal is to become an independent filmmaker. She hopes that she will be able to find a job in the film industry that she’s passionate about and that will help her pay off her student loans and explore the professional film industry.
Maranda’s passion for filmmaking is inspiring, and our team is so glad that we were able to see her work submitted for our scholarship. We are proud to present her with this scholarship, and we wish her all the best in her career.
