Some honors you campaign for. This one you can’t.
We are proud to share that Morris Bart has been named to New Orleans Magazine’s 2026 Top Lawyers list, an honor determined entirely by his peers in the New Orleans legal community.
For an attorney who began his career here more than four decades ago, the recognition is especially meaningful, and the way recipients are selected makes it even more rewarding.
What Makes New Orleans Magazine’s Top Lawyers Recognition Different?
New Orleans Magazine partners with Professional Research Services (PRS) to conduct an independent online peer-review survey of certified lawyers throughout New Orleans. Thousands of votes are cast recognizing excellence across areas of legal practice.
There is no way to buy your way onto the list. According to New Orleans Magazine, inclusion is based solely on an attorney’s standing within their peer group.

That carries a different kind of weight. The votes come from people who understand the demands of practicing law, advocating for clients, and building a professional reputation.
Morris Bart will be featured alongside the other 2026 Top Lawyers in the November issue of New Orleans Magazine.
More Than 40 Years Practicing Law in New Orleans
Morris Bart’s legal career began in the same community where his name would eventually become so well known.
Raised in New Orleans, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans in 1975 and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1978. During law school, he served as president of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, was selected for the Blue Key National Honor Society and received the American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence.
He began practicing law in 1978 and founded his own practice in 1980 as a sole practitioner.

What began with one attorney in New Orleans has grown into a team serving communities across four states, but the purpose behind the work has remained much the same: helping injured people understand their options, stand up to insurance companies, and move forward.
A Reputation Built Over Decades
The 2026 Top Lawyers distinction is the latest in a long history of recognition for Morris Bart. Throughout his career, he has been named a Super Lawyer, recognized by the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, voted Gambit Weekly’s “Best Attorney,” and honored with a Leadership in Law award from New Orleans CityBusiness.
Each recognition reflects something different — professional achievement, results, leadership, or reputation within the community. Together, they tell a larger story about a legal career that has earned respect both inside and outside the profession.
That makes this latest honor a fitting addition. More than 40 years after Morris Bart first began practicing law, fellow New Orleans attorneys continue to recognize the reputation he has built through his work, leadership, and presence in the legal community.
Giving Back to New Orleans
Morris Bart’s impact in New Orleans extends beyond the clients his firm represents.
Over the years, he has supported organizations throughout the community, with a particular focus on hunger relief and education. His largest individual philanthropic contribution was made to Second Harvest Food Bank, where the volunteer center now bears the names of Morris and his wife, Cathy: the Cathy & Morris Bart Volunteer Center.
That commitment continues today. In 2026, Morris launched his own Louisiana hot sauce at Rouses Markets, turning a personal passion into another opportunity to give back. One hundred percent of the profits from Morris Bart’s Louisiana Hot Sauce support charitable initiatives focused on local food insecurity.
He has also maintained close ties to local educational institutions, including the University of New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans, and has served on boards supporting institutions in the community.
For a career that began in New Orleans, that commitment to giving back is an important part of the legacy Morris Bart continues to build here.
What the Firm Stands For
Today, Morris Bart Personal Injury Lawyers operates 16 offices across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas, representing people injured in car and truck accidents, workplace incidents, offshore accidents, and other circumstances caused by negligence.
The firm has grown considerably since Morris Bart opened his first practice, but the goal has remained simple: make experienced legal help accessible when people need it most. That means having the resources to take on insurance companies while still giving clients a team they can turn to for answers and guidance throughout their case.
Free consultations are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and personal injury clients pay no attorney’s fee unless the firm recovers compensation for them. That accessibility has been a defining part of Morris Bart’s law firm. When an injury makes traveling difficult, the team can also meet clients at home, at work, or in the hospital.
