An Uber trip turned into a nightmare for two people after their driver pulled a gun on them after being told he was going the wrong way. NOPD News reported on the incident.
According to the police report, the driver picked up two individuals from a bar just after midnight on Sunday. They asked to be taken to Kenner, but the driver started going the wrong direction. When they told the driver their concern, a fight started.
The driver eventually stopped the car and someone contacted the police. While they were waiting, one of the passengers called for another Uber driver to take them to their proper destination. However, when the other car arrived the first driver pulled the keys from the second driver’s car.
That started a physical fight, but then the first driver pulled out a gun and started shooting at his passengers. The passengers ran away and the first driver left the scene. When he came back, he was arrested. It is unknown what happened to the second Uber driver or whether or not the passengers made it home.
Incidents like these are rare, but they can happen. Take care when hiring a rideshare driver and check their past reviews carefully. If you are injured by one, there is a good chance you will be eligible for compensation.
