Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 in Tagipahoa Parish according to the Louisiana State Police. NOLA.com reports.
A Honda Civic and an GMC Sierra pickup collided just north of LA 442 early in the morning. Both vehicles were going north on I-55. The crash knocked both vehicles off of the roadway and into the trees.
The three passengers in the Civic were all seriously injured. Two of them died at the hospital and the condition of the third is unknown. The Sierra driver was unhurt. The driver in the Civic had his seatbelt on, but his passengers did not.
No charges have been made yet in the case, nor is it clear who caused the accident from the news article. Once the investigation is complete, then the police and the insurance companies will have to decide what to do next.
