It is a good deed to help people who are stuck on the side of the road with a broken-down vehicle, but it is also dangerous to help fix it. Some drivers do not keep an eye out like they should and can hit people trying to fix a car. On Tuesday, someone lost their life because of this according to WBRZ.com.
The accident happened in Ascension Parish on I-10 near LA Hwy 22. A Chevy Tahoe broke down with a flat tire and pulled over onto the right shoulder. The three people in the vehicle got out to change it.
A pickup truck swerved off the road and hit the three and the SUV for unknown reasons. One died at the scene of the accident. The other two sustained moderate injuries and were sent to the hospital.
The driver of the truck was not injured, but he has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide, negligent injuring, and careless operations. He did not show signs of impairment at the scene of the crash.
Police are still investigating what happened, but we hope that the victims in this crash are able to secure compensation to cover their costs. This was an out-of-the-blue tragedy and the responsible driver needs to face justice.
