The Texarkana Gazette reported Tuesday on a fatal crash almost directly on the Texas-Arkansas state line in Texarkana, Arkansas that left one motorcyclist dead and his passenger in critical condition.
The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Sonic Drive-In at the intersection of State Line Avenue and East 21st Street. According to the preliminary investigation, a 2003 GMC Yukon was headed southbound on State Line Avenue when it attempted to turn east into Arkansas, in front of a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle that was proceeding north. This led to a collision between the motorcycle and SUV, which ended in the motorcycle catching fire. Responding units included the police and fire departments of both Texarkana, TX and Texarkana, AR and LifeNet.

The motorcycle was driven by a 45-year-old Texarkana, AR man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 43-year-old Texarkana, AR woman, was seriously injured and is in critical condition at a nearby hospital. Both occupants of the SUV received only minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.
The accident blocked both lanes of State Line Avenue for several hours, causing congestion in both Texarkanas. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to representatives of the Texarkana, AR Police Department.
