Intersections are one of the most common places for a crash to happen. People have made elaborate systems to try to control the flow of traffic so everyone can negotiate through them smoothly. But when the lights are ignored, deadly accidents can happen like this one in Kenner reported by WWL.
The accident happened at Airline Highway and Williams Boulevard in the evening hours of last Sunday. A car traveling on Airline Avenue ignored the traffic light at the intersection and crashed into the driver’s side of another car.
The driver in the second car, a TSA agent, was killed at the scene. The responsible driver was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The police are waiting for lab tests to see if the driver was drunk before ignoring the light.
Even with side airbags, a T-bone crash is one of the most dangerous kinds of crashes for whoever’s side gets hit. Unlike the front and rear of a car, there is little protection on the sides from the crush of an oncoming vehicle.
We hope that the family of the deceased is able to receive compensation for their loss and that the responsible driver is held accountable for his actions.
