If you ride a motorcycle without a helmet, you are taking your life into your own hands. Period. It is the best way to protect your head from injury and it’s the best way to save your life. The risk of an accident on a motorcycle is higher than a car because so many drivers fail to look for motorcycles.

Yet even in just a simple spill, not wearing a helmet can kill. That’s what appears to have happened in a motorcycle accident in St. Bernard Parish according to Fox 8. Yesterday, a man was driving a motorcycle without a helmet down LA 46 East.
For unknown reasons, the motorcycle ran off the road and crashed, killing the rider. The accident happened around 10 in the morning. No other vehicles were involved and there was no mention of speeding.
Whether it was a bump in the road, an animal, a pothole, or simply inattention, it doesn’t matter. Fall off of a motorcycle without a helmet and you risk death. The risk is there even with simple bicycles which are far slower.
If you’re worried about vision, there are plenty of helmets now that let you see out of the corner of your eye while wearing them. There really is no excuse not to wear one when you ride.
