A speeding Porsche crashed in Houma after failing to negotiate a curve in Terrebonne Parish. Fox 8 reported on the fatal incident.
According to the police, a Porsche was traveling on Southdown Mandalay Road on Monday in the evening hours. The driver was going too fast and failed to negotiate a curve correctly. He ran off the roadway to the right and overcorrected, slinging across the road to the other side and striking a tree.
The driver was killed in the crash despite wearing his seatbelt. His passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The condition of the passenger is unknown.
As per standard procedure, blood samples were taken from the deceased driver to see if he was impaired at the time of the crash.
Sports cars may go fast and have great handling, but public roads aren’t designed for speeding cars. A careless driver can push their car so fast that they overcome the design of the road and lose control. Cases like this one show the result of what can happen in a crash at high speed.
Speed limits aren’t just there to control the flow of traffic. They also tell you how fast you can go without worrying about the road conditions. Even if you know a road well, speeding can make a road unpredictable. Stay under the speed limit.
