When a suspect flees the police in a vehicle, they can panic and cause a car accident. That’s what happened in Birmingham, according to ABC 33/40 News.
Just before noon on Saturday, sheriffs witnessed a drug deal in progress at a gas station. When they attempted to pull over the seller’s car, he started a police chase. This wasn’t the first time this man has fled from police.
He managed to evade attempts to block in his vehicle and drove so dangerously that the police called off the pursuit. However, in his panic, the man soon crashed into a 18-wheeler at Arkadelphia Road and 8th Avenue West. Police caught up with him and arrested him when he tried to flee the scene on foot.
The car had two other people in it. One passenger had minor injuries. The man’s 15-year-old son was in the back seat. He was injured so badly that he succumbed. The driver of the truck was uninjured
The suspect now has a litany of charges against him, and possibly more to come.
