Some crashes happen for reasons beyond all of our control. These are true accidents. One of these happened to a man in an accident in Kenner according to NOLA.com.
According to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, the man died of natural causes while behind the wheel. His vehicle swerved off of I-10 and crashed through a fence just past the Loyola Drive exit. The vehicle stopped near 29th and Tupelo.
No one else was injured in the crash. Forensic pathologists are working to figure out exactly how the man died, but claim that it wasn’t due to crashing.
In cases where the one responsible for a crash dies, their insurance will likely have clauses that will pay out in such an event. In general, the rarer an event the more likely a payout becomes if it can be proven, like in this case. Even if they don’t have insurance, it is possible for an injured party to sue the estate of the deceased for compensation.
If you’re involved in a crash that wasn’t your fault and the circumstances were outside the norm, you owe it to yourself to talk to a personal injury attorney. There may be special laws and circumstances that you don’t know about that will work in your favor.
