The Hattiesburg American reported Monday on two separate vehicular accidents in Lamar County Sunday that led to fatalities, one where a woman was killed and another involving a teenage fatality.
In the first accident, a woman died in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 59, near mile marker 65, around 3:30 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the Hattiesburg Police Department. Police officers responded to a call to find her in a 2008 Honda Civic that had impacted a tree. She was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not announced a reason for her to have hit the tree or any other information related to the accident as of yet.
The second incident resulted in the death of a 17-year-old Lumberton boy, according to the Lamar County Coroner.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokespeople reported that Troop J units responded to a two-vehicle wreck around 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of Mississippi 13 and Arthur Lowe Road. The teen was headed south on MS 13 in a GMC pickup truck and crossed the centerline, impacting a Nissan SUV that was traveling north on MS 13. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and passengers of the Nissan sustained only non-life-threatening injuries.
