WXXV 25 reported on a tragic car accident Monday in the coastal Mississippi region that left an infant dead and his mother and brother hospitalized with serious injuries.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office spokespeople stated that the accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Monday evening. A George County woman was driving her car on Davis Sawmill Road, about a half of a mile away from Highway 613. Investigators believe she lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and hitting a pine tree in the left front part of the vehicle, on and around the driver’s side door. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.

The woman and one of her sons, who was nine years old, were taken to the University of South Alabama hospital in Mobile, Alabama, the mother by medical airlift and the 9-year-old by Ambulance. However, her other son, an infant at only four months of age, was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and no further information has been released at this time.
While authorities have not stated whether the child was properly secured, they do remind drivers to make sure they utilize properly installed child safety seats and correctly fasten and secure children within them.
