One type of vehicle you might see driving around in a neighborhood is a 4-wheeler. These are used by thrillseekers who like to go off-roading, but they’re allowable on some roads if they follow the safety rules. Unfortunately, the driver in this case did not and paid for it with his life. WKRG reports about the Mobile, Alabama accident.
A man was driving a 4-wheeler on Springhill Avenue according to the police. He failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the side of a truck pulling a trailer on the afternoon of May 27.
He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there. The person in the truck was unhurt. It is unknown why the 4-wheeler failed to stop at the sign.
As fun as these vehicles are, they are also one of the most dangerous to drive. Rollovers are the most common accident and can be fatal if you’re crushed by the vehicle. Head injuries are another thing to watch for. Everyone riding a 4-wheeler should wear a motorcycle helmet for safety.
Riders also need to know the rules of the road and where they can and cannot go. Some people like to speed and older 4-wheelers may not even have a speedometer. Consider buying an aftermarket model if your 4-wheeler doesn’t have one.
