An odd accident happened last night in Ouachita Parish. MyArkLaMiss.com reported on the incident.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, they were called to a crash on I-20 east of Monroe just after midnight. They say that a driver stopped in the outside lane and got out of the vehicle. A semi crashed into the driver and the car.
The driver was killed at the scene, and police don’t know why the driver stopped in the lane and got out of the vehicle. The semi driver was unharmed and submitted to toxicology tests.
There are a lot of unanswered questions with this case. Why did the car stop where it did, and how long was it before it stopped and the accident? Did it break down? Investigators have a lot of work ahead of them to figure out what really happened here.
Needless to say, if you do break down on the interstate then you need to warn other drivers as best as you can and get out of the roadway as soon as possible. If you cannot move your own car, at least turn on the hazard lights and move 100 feet away from your vehicle before calling police. That way, if your car gets hit you’ll be much less likely to get harmed in the crash.
