Most car accidents that you read about in the news are due to a crash. But not all of them. Police are investigating a crash as a homicide in New Orleans. WGNO reported on the incident.
Early on January 3rd, police were called out to a vehicle crash with injuries. They found a maroon SUV with two unresponsive victims inside. They were declared dead. However, when they inspected the bodies they contacted the NOPD Homicide Unit to investigate further after gunshot wounds were found.
When nearby homes were questioned, they said that they heard a burst of shots around midnight, but couldn’t tell what their source was. Some thought it was fireworks left over from New Year’s celebrations.
The car had crashed on Prentiss along the edge of a golf course. No motive or information about the people responsible for the homicides has been found. The victims have been identified as Kennell Lewis and Emmanuel Benjamin. Both died from the gunshot wounds.
We hope that the NOPD Homicide Unit can find some answers and get their families some closure in this case. Both men were under the age of 20. If readers have any information on the case, the linked page above has numbers you can call to leave a tip.
