Car makers take great pains to ensure cars can drive safely on the road, but if they go off the road, then all bets are off. Many injuries and fatalities happen every year when cars go off the road, like this case reported by The Advocate.
Investigators aren’t sure why the car went off the road, but the results were clear A 20-year-old died on Sunday after her car veered off LA 16 in Livingston Parish. The car struck a pole and then a tree, then caught fire.
The driver burned to death at the scene, while a passenger was seriously injured. By the time the fire was put out, investigators couldn’t tell if seat belts were worn or not in the crash, and getting toxicology data will be difficult, if not impossible.

There are many reasons why a car could suddenly leave the roadway. An altruistic driver might want to avoid hitting an animal and turn too far. A child might dart into the road and force a turn. On the other hand, drunk driving, distracted driving, and arguments can pull a driver’s attention away long enough to cause this kind of accident.
Road edges often have terrain and obstacles that can cause a crash. Even something simple like crashing into a ditch can still cause injuries.
