WKRG CBS News 5 reported recently on a car wreck that claimed the lives of two children in Hoover, AL last Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for the Hoover Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. Thursday morning. A 1996 GMC C6 heavy-duty truck was headed southbound on U.S. Highway 31 when it rear-ended a 2010 Honda Fit compact that was stuck in traffic. This started a chain reaction in which the 2010 Honda Fit struck a 2017 Lexus GX 460 SUV, which then hit a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck. All vehicles were stopped in the traffic jam.

Two children, an 11-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl, were taken to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in critical condition, while two other adults and one other child sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, The eight-year-old girl was pronounced dead after arrival at the hospital, while the 11-year-old boy passed away around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The only parties involved to suffer no injuries were the driver and passenger of the GNC C6 that initiated the car wreck.
Authorities have not released any further information on the cause of the accident or the identities and status of those injured.
