Shemetreal Harris earned her B. A. in English, summa cum laude, from Southern University and A&M College and then earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Southern University Law Center, where she graduated from both at the very top of her class earning the distinctions of chief student marshal and top graduate, respectively.
While in law school, Ms. Harris received numerous honors and awards, was a Legal Writing teaching assistant and was the recipient of the Southern University Law Center, Phelps Dunbar and Kean Miller scholarships.
Prior to joining Morris Bart, Ms. Harris was an associate attorney at a major New York law firm where she represented financial institutions, corporations and issuers on a broad array of complex finance transactions, including secured lending, structured financings and debt restructuring. She later was an attorney for the State of Louisiana, assisting families with establishing paternity and securing financial support from noncustodial parents under the Child Support Enforcement program. She is admitted to practice in Louisiana and New York.
