Born and raised in southeast Louisiana. A 2008 graduate of Belle Chasse High School as well as a 2012 graduate of Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology.
Following graduation from LSU Avery went on to pursue a Master’s in Public Administration from Southern University. He then went on to study law at the Southern University Law Center, graduating in December of 2017.
While attending law school at Southern Avery worked full-time, first for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals then for the City-Parish of East Baton Rouge as the parish’s Fixed Assets Manager. Also, while in law school, Avery represented Louisiana as the AmeriCorp JD’s Summer Rural Legal Fellow working through Southeast Louisiana Legal Services’ Baton Rouge office.
Avery is an avid sports and outdoors enthusiast spending as much free time as possible hunting and fishing around Louisiana. Also, while at LSU, Avery became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity through the Theta Kappa Chapter.
