The race will help provide scholarships to students in need

For nearly 75 years, the United Negro College Fund has helped students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities with both financial and technical assistance. By providing scholarships to students from low-income families, the UNCF helps ensure that these students will have the brightest future possible.

The 2018 Walk for Education New Orleans is an important part of UNCF’s mission. Even with annual fundraising efforts, right now the UNCF is only able to grant scholarships to one out of every ten applicants. By sponsoring, volunteering, or participating in this walk/run, you can help UNCF reach its $125,000 fundraising goal and make an important difference in the life of a disadvantaged student.

All the details

Runners can register as individuals or can pair up with people from work, church, sports, and other organizations to race as a team. Not a runner? You can still join the fun!

If you believe that “a mind is a terrible thing to waste” but you aren’t much of a runner yourself, you can still support the 2018 Walk for Education and UNCF mission. In addition to registering as a virtual participant or making a donation, you can also learn more about volunteer opportunities on race day and register as a volunteer here. If sponsorship is more your style, UNCF offers impressive sponsorship packages ranging from $2,000 to $25,000.

Regardless of whether you support the Walk for Education New Orleans by running the 5k or making a corporate donation, the event is sure to be a fun-filled day that also helps provide a bright future for community members in need!
