A native of Arcadia, Louisiana, James received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern University A&M College. He later earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center where he graduated with cum laude honors. While in law school, Mr. Mason served as a Teaching Assistant in the areas of Legal Writing and Civil Code classes, and a Student Attorney with the SULC Technology and Entrepreneurship Clinic. He also worked for Louisiana Workforce Commission, Louisiana’s Community & Technical Colleges System, and the Los Angeles Black Worker’s Center while in law school.
James has also been the recipient of a CALI Award in Advanced Legal Writing, the Peggy Browning Fund Fellowship, and The Chancellor’s Public Interest Award. Additionally, James served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge D. Nicole Sheppard at The Orleans Civil District Court
